Amy C. McAninch is currently an associate professor in the department of education at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, MO, where she teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in the social foundations of education. She received her MS and PhD from the University of Illinois, with a specialization in philosophy of education. A revised version of her doctoral dissertation, Teacher Thinking and the Case Method, was published by Teachers College Press in 1993. She has continued to pursue her interest in philosophical issues related to teacher beliefs, teacher thinking, and teacher education programs. She is currently co-editor of the Advances in Teacher Education series by Information Age Publishing and a consulting editor of the Journal of Educational Research. She is a member of the American Educational Research Association and the American Educational Studies Association. Most of McAninch’s professional experience has been in liberal arts settings, including Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, and the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas. She has served on the TEAC Accreditation Panel since 2007.
