Kent served as editor of the AERA Division K newsletter from 1998 to 2008. He has also reviewed articles for the Journal of Teacher Education since 1999.
Kent has served as an accreditation panelist for TEAC since 2007. He is also secretary for the New Jersey Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, the state affiliate of AACTE. While an undergraduate at Princeton, Kent met his wife (and classmate), Mary Jane Briody Kent, and they have four children.
