Denise Gelberg

Denise Gelberg retired from teaching in 2006 and served as a visiting fellow at Cornell University from 2006-2007. She has taught grades K-3 in several New York school districts since 1974. During that time, she earned a PhD from Cornell University in industrial and labor relations and has served as chief labor negotiator, vice president, and treasurer of the Ithaca Teachers Association. She has several published articles to her credit as well as a book, The Business of Reforming American Schools, SUNY Press. Other research interests include the efficacy of different methods of teaching beginning reading.
