| TEAC requires that the program
be offered by a college or university that is regionally accredited
and that there be written mission and policies and procedures guiding
the program's operations. TEAC's requirement for regional accreditation
of the institution offering the program assures TEAC and others
that the institution overall has met the prevailing capacity standards
established by the US Secretary of Education for higher education
institutions eligible for Title IV funds and provides additional
assurance to TEAC and others that the institution is administratively
and financially capable. Regional accreditation also gives the program
faculty members a way to assess their institution's commitment to
the program by determining the degree to which their program conforms
to the institutional norm.
