*DATA-DRIVEN DECISION MAKING FOR QUALITY CONTROL:
THE POWER OF A RELATIONAL DATABASE

Vicki Cohen, Marlene Rosenberg, and Joshua Cohen
Fairleigh Dickinson University, New Jersey

Friday, February 8, 10:30 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.
Belle Chasse, Third Floor

Abstract: Storing program data, including demographic information, grades, licensure scores, field placement sites, and more in a relational database can greatly facilitate inquiry about program quality by allowing quick analysis of data in ways that would be prohibitively cumbersome if done by hand. Faculty and staff will demonstrate the School of Education’s relational database including monitoring reports, data structures, examples of how the data informs decisions within the quality control system, and how data is leveraged to support student learning, program revision, and outcomes based assessment to support teacher training.

Belle Chasse, Third Floor

Abstract: The session describes how a research university integrated its research on teacher education into the TEAC process and kept a focus on its own goals.

Abstract: Soon after the New Jersey Department of Education required national accreditation for professional educator preparation programs in the state, a consortium of TEAC member institutions formed. Monthly meetings cover a range of accreditation issues and a collegial environment provides helpful expertise and experience. Learn how the consortium impacts programs working on TEAC accreditation. Members of the panel will represent institutions at a variety of points in the accreditation process.
